Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Good morning,

It is that time again for our annual HOLIDAY SHOP!!!

This is the time where our Students get to shop for those special (inexpensive) Holiday Gifts for Family, and Friends and they have a great time doing so.

The PTA needs Volunteers!

The Shop will run from Monday Dec 3 - Dec 7 from 9:45- 3:45.

We need volunteers to work whatever hours you can during this time. If you can come for 1 hour, 2 hours, entire day, or the entire week, we need you to just come out and help.

**This is the PTA's busiest time of the year (with the exception of the Spring Fling), and this is the time where ALL the students participate. All 750+ of them so, we really need whatever volunteer assistance we can get.

If you work during the day but will have a day off during that week, please come out and volunteer your time.

If it sounds as if I am BEGGING, then I am because as I stated, all 750+ students participate in this shopping event so we need all the help we can get.

How the Holiday shop works is:
•       We receive gift items from Fun Services the week prior to the shop so, we will need a few volunteers that Friday November 30  to help get the shop prepared for Monday by placing all the gifts on tables by prices. The shop will look just like a local Wal-Mart once set up! lol
•       The students will begin coming in per classroom, starting at 9:45 and each class will have about 30 minutes to shop. Most of them will already have an envelope with cash or check and have marked on the envelope who he/she needs to shop for and how much to spend. Volunteers will be walking around with the students assisting them in purchasing gifts within the dollar amount they have available.
•       We will need at least 5 volunteers each day to assist student with their purchases
•       We will need at least 2-3 volunteers a day to gift wrap the students purchases

Bottom-line, we will need at least 6 volunteers throughout the day, each day for one week.

So please if you can, let me know no later than Nov 28. Also tell me what days and time you will be avaiablel to volunteer and with this info, I will then make up a schedule of volunteers and forward that info to each of you.

Thanks for your continued support,

Welcome

Hello to all....
My name is LeToya Brown and I am the 2012-2013 SWES PTA President.
I would like to take a moment of your time to WELCOME you to Southwest Elementary School and to tell you a little about our organization.  Parent organizations are crucial to the schools they support; not only do they serve as a bridge for communication between the parents, school administration and teachers, but they strive to provide the children enhancements to their present curriculum via technology, classroom materials, programs, etc…  We can only continue to provide these enhancements with the help and support of the parents and guardians.

We heave some wonderful and exciting things planned for this school year, but we wont be able to do these things alone.  I know that some of you have indicated on your membership forms that you would like to volunteer in different areas,  I will be contacting you shortly and getting our committees completed.

Thank you so much for those that participated in our Classic Cookie fundraiser the orders have been placed and we should be getting the order back shortly.
Listed below are some of the activities that we have coming up in November and December. If you are able to volunteer for these activities let me know.

Family Movie Night       November 9  (Doors open at 6:30 and movie starts at 7 pm)
Holiday Shop               December 3-7 (9:30-3:30 We will need many, many volunteers)

Again Welcome and I look forward to working with you to make this a great year.  Please feel free to email or call with any questions or concerns that you may have.
